Early spring evaluations lead to 2025 On300 rankings update

On3 has updated its football prospect rankings for the 2025 cycle. This rankings release marks the second update this year and is driven by the performances we’ve seen and data gathered from off-season camps, 7-on-7’s and the high school track season to this point along with continued film evaluation from the junior season, which is the basis of all evaluations to date.

This is not as exhaustive of an overhaul as the last update, which was the first since the fall. With that said, there was some movement throughout the ranking with risers and 31 new entrants. We’ve also added ratings to many more prospects in the three-star ranks.

Updated 2025 On300

We’re currently in the midst of the offseason. Many more prospects will continue to emerge. We’re midway through the high school track season. A number of regional combines and national events will occur over the coming months, including Overtime’s OT7 Finals and the Elite 11 Finals — all of which will be factored into the next update.

Let’s get into some of the storylines surrounding this spring update.

Two new 5-star prospects

This update saw two more prospects earn a fifth star from On3, bringing the current total to 10 – offensive tackle Ty Haywood (No. 8) and USC defensive line commit Justus Terry (No. 10).

In a cycle that is loaded at offensive tackle, Ty Haywood continues to check a ton of boxes while assembling a strong body of work. The Denton (Texas) Ryan product has one of the best combinations of length, functional play strength and athleticism at the position in the 2025 cycle. At 6-foot-4.5, 285 pounds with close to a 7-foot wing-span, Haywood is a twitchy mover with the ability to move laterally with ease. He’s strong on contact, using his punch and grip strength to manipulate opposing defensive linemen on film and in the camp setting. Haywood has continued supplement his film with strong in-person showings, most recently at Under Armour’s Dallas camp. He’s also shown well in track and field, posting an eye-catching 58-6 foot throw in the shot put this spring. Haywood has official visits set for UCLA, (May 10), Alabama (May 31), Texas A&M (June 6), Oklahoma (June 14) and Florida State (June 21).

2025 is a banner cycle along the defensive front in the state of Georgia and Justus Terry is the latest big man from the Peach State to earn his fifth star. At 6-foot-5, 275 pounds with 34-inch arms, Terry is a big-framed, plus athlete who is a disruptive pass rush presence on the defensive line. Terry had a strong junior season at Manchester (Ga.) High, notching 19 tackles 13 sacks. He backed up the junior film by earning On3 MVP honors at Under Armour’s Atlanta camp in February. Terry’s outstanding first-step quickness pairs with a high-end combination of length and play strength. He’s able to win with initial quickness and speed-to-power. The one-time Georgia pledge flipped his commitment to USC a few weeks back, but was back in Athens over the weekend for the Bulldogs’ spring game.

Movement within the top 50

Several more prospects made moves into the top 50 after rising within their respective position groups.

Carius Curne (No. 25) and Michael Carroll (No. 27) now sit atop the interior offensive line rankings, with each moving into the top 30. Both exhibit outstanding athletic traits as two-way linemen at the high school level.

At 6-foot-4, 320-pounds, Curne is a twitched up athlete who moves like a much smaller player. His game film borders on dominant. He’s an effortless mover at the second level and is a violent, physical presence on contact. The Marion (Ark.) High prospect was committed to Arkansas before reopening his recruitment in March.

Carroll has the largest frame of any top interior offensive lineman, checking in at 6-foot-6, 300 pounds with plus length and hands that measure over 11 inches. The Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East standout shows outstanding movement skills at his size. After gaining more clarity on the top of the interior line group as a whole to this point in the spring, we feel Carroll could possess the most upside from that group. The On3 outlier has added offers from Alabama, USC, Georgia, Texas and Clemson since moving up in the On300 in February.

There’s a shakeup at the top of the safety rankings, with Jonah Williams (No. 33) being re-ranked as a safety and sitting atop the position. The Galveston (Texas) Ball hybrid defender owns safety athleticism and cover skills in a 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame. Williams has backed up the ball-hawking tendencies he showed on junior film early on this spring. He had a great showing at Under Armour’s Houston camp. Williams laid down some very impressive numbers, including an electronically-timed 40 in the 4.5’s. He also looked like a natural in man coverage. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M are heavily in the mix for Williams and official visits are scheduled for USC (May 30), LSU (June 7), Ohio State (June 14) and Oregon (June 21).

At wide receiver CJ Wiley (No. 43) and Vernell Brown III (No. 46) make the move into the top 50.

Wiley has some of the best physical traits at the position at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds and recently posted a 10.91 second mark in the 100 meters. He had a phenomenal junior season for Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton, hauling in 68 passes for 1,473 yards and 14 touchdowns. The combination of size and speed are highly projectable as an outside wide receiver. Wiley has an official visit to Alabama scheduled and Georgia has received On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine picks.

Brown has backed up magnificent junior film with a dominant off-season to date. He’s a three-level threat at Orlando (Fla.) Jones, showing signs of a very well-rounded skill set. Brown is arguably the best YAC receiver in the cycle. He is extremely dangerous with the ball in his hands, flashing high-end spatial awareness, burst and lateral agility. Brown is a loose and fluid athlete who projects as a very good route-runner. He’s able to separate at all levels, including as a deep threat. The ball skills and tracking ability also look to be strong. Brown, who doubles as a top return man, caught 70 passes for 1,370 yards and ten touchdowns while taking four kicks to the house. He’s since turned in dominant performances at Under Armour’s Orlando camp and Overtime’s OT7 Dallas regional. Ohio State has received picks on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Intriguing quarterback group inside the top 100

At quarterback, the majority of the movement is comprised towards the back half of the top 100 with four intriguing signal callers looking like ‘stock up’ type prospects, building on strong junior seasons with very good off-season showings to date.

New Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet (No. 78) could have the strongest arm in the cycle. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder from Corona (Calif.) Centennial has elite arm talent with the ability to generate palpable velocity on his throws. Longstreet is a twitchy passer and mover and excels in the RPO game and as a downfield passer. He sports the biggest hands of any top 2025 quarterback and it’s easy to see, given the force he’s able to generate on his throws.

SMU commit Keelon Russell (No. 81) has backed up another state title run with a strong offseason. He was highly efficient while leading powerhouse Duncanville (Texas) High to a second-straight championship in Texas’ highest classification. Russell has shown steady growth and progression over the course of the past year. Adding size and arm strength. He made a number of translatable throws last fall and looks to get better and better each time we see him, which isn’t a big surprise, given he’s one of the younger top quarterbacks in the cycle.

TCU commit Ty Hawkins (No. 88) brings a well-rounded combination of passing polish and rushing ability to the table. Hawkins was the most productive rusher among top quarterbacks as a junior, as the lone On300 signal caller to eclipse 1,000 yards on the ground. He’s looked good this offseason as a passer and has been a standout on the 7-on-7 circuit, recently earning On3 MVP honors at Overtime’s OT7 Dallas regional.

Mississippi State commit Kamario Taylor (No. 95) could have the highest upside of the group. At 6-foot-3.5, 205 pounds with a live arm and functional athleticism, the Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County passer oozes the high-end physical traits you look for at the position. Taylor was among the most productive On300 quarterbacks as a junior, accounting for over 4,000 total yards and 63 touchdowns against five interceptions. He recently put forth in a head-turning showing at Under Armour’s Nashville camp.
